KH-3Scientific Name(S): Procaine HCI Common Name(S): KH-3, Gerovital-H3, GH-3, Gero-vita KH3 improves physical and psychological capacities such as memory, concentration, and watchfulness. KH3 helps tackle changes in hearing and circulation caused by age. History: The last 25 years have seen the publication of sometimes incredible claims for a product that is often better known to patients than to their health professionals. These products have been administered parenterally and orally for the treatment of cerebral atherosclerosis, progressive dementia, arthritis, hair loss, hypertension, sexual dysfunction and to impart an overall rejuvenating effect. KH-3 was developed in Germany in the 1960s and has been popularized by Rumanian and other Eastern block researchers. Procaine-containing products are available over-the-counter and by mail order in the United States and parts of Europe. Uses of KH-3Without much supporting data, KH-3 has been credited with inhibiting diseases of aging. Side Effects of KH-3KH-3 is contraindicated in those sensitive to related compounds or in cholinesterase therapy. Instruction of dose, kind and duration of use:Unless prescribed differently, take one capsule daily, with fluids at breakfast for at least 5 months. Afterwards, you can have a break for 2 to 4 weeks. To achieve a sustained effect, the KH3 treatment cycle should be repeated several times. Older people should take the medication for years, without interruption. Toxicology: Procaine HCI is generally contraindicated in patients who have shown a hypersensitivity to it or related compounds. The drug should not be administered to patients taking concurrent anticholinesterase medications (eg, neostigmine) or who have a known pseudocholinesterase deficiency. It should not be taken during pregnancy. Procaine may interact with sulfonamides, inhibiting the bacteriostatic action of the antibiotic. Published reports have described heartburn, migraine and systemic lupus erythematosus following treatment with KH-3, although no adverse events have been reported in other studies. Summary: Procaine HCI has been available for several decades in preparations designed for the amelioration of chronic diseases associated with aging. Although a number of published reports have described its use, these have generally been poorly designed and their results have been inconclusive. There is no valid evidence for a pharmacologic effect of these compounds in the elderly. |
